Creative Anarchy

A creative process of wanting everything and figuring out that it’s impossible.

Whenever somebody asked me what I wanted to do in life, I never knew what to say except well, everything. The problem with doing everything is that you can’t and I know because I’ve tried. But, how can I possibly ever choose? There is a universe of endless possibilities and a curious fascination which I am eager to explore.

For somebody like me, making a choice can be a painful process. Making a choice means the end of other possibilities, a looming grief. So when given a choice, I always chose not to choose at all.

Every random hobby, half-finished project, abandoned idea, and short-lived obsession felt for a long time like evidence of failure. As motivating as every new project might be, wanting and trying to achieve everything, while knowing it’s impossible, can be very daunting.

Creatively interesting ideas forever bouncing off and around each other in my brain, colliding and multiplying only to end up in the graveyard of possibilities, paralyzed by choice.

Getting lost in the sea of endless possibilities can be a beautiful drift but it can drift on forever, getting you nowhere.

Or does it?

I never followed rules, I created my own. I acted on instinct, I did the unconventional, I did not do what I was told and I did not conform to society because for me, that meant limiting myself to possibilities.

By creating my own path, I slowly began to understand that each choice I make is like a brick. Not in a wall which is there to close me off and limit me but rather a stepping stone into an orderly chaos of my own potential, my creative castle. Every skill picked up along the way, every experiment, every detour added a layer of understanding, taste, instinct, and perspective. None of it was wasted even if the process of trusting the journey can be scary, it's also very honest.

Somewhere between the chaos and the curiosity, I stumbled into creative anarchy. Perhaps, in more professional terms, Art Direction. When you’re somebody who wants everything, you become somebody who cares about everything. Every discipline, every detail, every little idea has the potential to connect to the bigger picture. Realising those connections and knowing what to do with them, is an ability-driven skill that I continue to hone.

Imposter syndrome? Absolutely!

Showcasing all of it means exposing uncertainty, embracing inconsistency, and standing by work that doesn’t always fit neatly into one box.

So maybe Creative Anarchy isn’t chaos at all. Maybe it’s trust. Trusting that every curiosity, every failed attempt, every unexpected skill has been quietly assembling itself into something coherent. An opportunity to keep choosing everything and allowing it the space to mean something.

So allow your brain to smash those rules together, fuck the norms and next time somebody asks : "What do you want to do?"  say : "everything!"
